In this presentation, photographer Richard Mosse understands light as a form of heat and uses both to unpack complex geopolitical movements.

A careful look at resource extraction and ecology wars through military and industrial ways of seeing in Richard Mosse’s photographic practice — in this lecture, Mosse understands light as a form of heat and uses both to unpack complex geopolitical movements that cause and effect dramatic changes in weather patterns and global heating, from rare earth mining and illegal charcoal production in eastern DR Congo to the waves of migration across the Middle East and North Africa, to man’s wilful ecocide in the Amazon rainforest, and the places between. Mosse will also explain how he sees his hard earned documentary imagery as a form of ‘parafiction’.
